Social Hour: It’s Halloween Weekend, and Time to Update Your Social Media Accordingly

Posted On October 26th, 2017 | 7:04pm EST

As a small business, it’s important to plan a content calendar around timely events — including spooky, fun holidays. With Halloween right around the corner, here are a few ways you can give your social media pages a monster makeover.

Offer social media a sneak peek at your scary good deals
Make sure your audience knows about any discounts on products or services. You can use Halloween related promo-codes like “Boo-One-Get-One” for customers that just can’t decide “witch” one to buy.

Deck the walls
Make sure your Facebook wall, Twitter feed and Instagram grid are all in season. Consider snapping a festive photo that shows your product or brand is seasonally-aware. Halloween is just the start of the holiday season, so be sure to keep up the calendar counting through the winter holidays, as well.

Show some spirit
We talk a lot about transparency and pulling back the wires to give your audience a face with your name, specifically the faces of your employees. A great way to take advantage of a social opportunity is to take a group Halloween photo. Have everyone dress up as a character from your favorite spooky movie (Ghostbusters is our pick) and take a company picture. Post it on Instagram to show your followers what that you’ve all been hard – and haunted – at work.

And don’t forget the ghost stories
… of the dancing yellow-and-white icon variety, of course. Use Snap Chat to illustrate your holiday cheer. Post a haunted tale on your company’s story. Incorporate one or more of your products and services and let your audience click through your spooky and low-cost advertisement.
